Note from Carol King:
Shared note | Note from Carol King: At her second marriage (to James Smart, aged 23) Eliza is recorded as widow, aged 33. They all (James, Eliza and 3 children) appear on 1871 census, also with just Thomas on the 1881 census. In 1891 it's just Eliza & James. By 1901 there is Eliza a widow with 2 grandchildren Henry J Smart & Elizabeth Stagg, Note from Graham Lovelock: [In the 1901 census] next door her daughter Emma Jordan was a servant for Thomas Deadman. Not surprising, therefore, that Emma was the one to register her mother's death. I presume Elizabeth Stagg is the daughter of William Stagg and Elizabeth Jordan |
