Graham Lovelock email 17 Feb 02: so too, missing that is, is the child Edgar, who was but 1 week old in the 1901 Census. However, I'm not sure who Edgar's parents were. He was apparently in John and Sarah's household, but missing from the household was John and Sarah's son Frederick Charles who was baptised at GB on 25 Mar 1901. Surely they hadn't decided to change his name a week after baptising him? But if not, where was Frederick Charles? Free BMD has FC (2Q 1901) but no Edgar. As it happens, the data I gathered at St Catherine's over 10 years ago now matches precisely what Free BMD has - ie no Edgar. I recall that I have speculated before on 'missing' baptisms from GB being possibly associated with James (the husband of Honor Gigg) being a Wesleyan preacher, so it is gratifying to know that at least one event may be so attributed.
