Graham Lovelock email 6-Jul-05
Shared note | Graham Lovelock email 6-Jul-05 I've tried as many variations as I can think of, but still not found either girl [Edith or Lousia] conclusively in 1901. Mind you, others in the family are just as difficult to track down in 1901. For instance, I suspect that Alice was the one recorded as a Domestic in Shirley, Southampton, aged 16 and born in 'CLEWSEY', Wilts, and that Arthur was the 21 year old Gamekeeper born in 'PEWSY', living in Puddletown, Dorset. Intriguingly there is a possible Edith in the records, a General Servant Domestic in Bristol, aged 19 (good!) but born in Aldermaston (bad!). Free BMD has no Edith who could have been born in either Liss or Aldermaston, but they have transcribed very little of 1881 yet, and the images for the first three quarters are not available. One for the ToDo list. Odd, though, that of all the places a 19 year old Edith Lovelock (the only one in the country apparently) should choose to say she was born in it should turn out to be a place where one other child of Walter and Matilda was born. |
