Note

An edition of the St Clair, Ontario, Canada 'Times-Journal' of Oct 1943 carried an article about William Walter and his brother Charles Alexander being reunited after some 55 years. The article included:

'Back in the late eighties an old London Family of seventeen was broken up through the death of the parents, Charles, a Boot Maker by trade, and Mrs Lovelock and scattered among relatives and friends. The Oldest boy in the family, Charles Alexander Lovelock, settled in Margate Kent County, 75 miles from London (Eng.) and later came to Canada, locating in New Brunswick. His home is now Plaster Rock, in that province.

The youngest boy William Lovelock, remained in London for a time, then came to Canada, settling in St. Thomas. Charles Lovelock and other members of his family made every endeavor to get some trace of the youngest brother, William, and William on his part tried his best to ascertain the identity and whereabouts of his sisters and brothers. But all to no avail.

Then some months ago, Charles Lovelock’s granddaughter, Mrs N. Fields, came from her home in Advocate Harbour, Nova Scotia, with her husband, Norman Fields, a member of the R.C.A.F., who was stationed at The Technical Training School here. The Fields stayed at 66 Ross street. One day Mrs. Fields saw a man pass her home and noticed a striking resemblance to an uncle, son of Charles Lovelock who was drowned about two years ago [Percy Roy Lovelock who died on 21 May 1941]. Later she saw an older man who resembled her grandfather in appearance and walk. She grew curious, and the owners of the house where she stayed called in both of these men to meet Mrs. Fields. She found they bore the same name as her grandmother. They were William Lovelock of 170 Ross Street and son Carl, of Erie Street. She communicated the information to her mother and grandfather, letters and photographs were exchanged and eventually the relationship between Charles and William was established.'
