By 1851 the family had moved to The Mermaid Inn ( previously run by William's father John ). Ref - HO107/1690. William had since died - I have a copy of his Obituary in the local paper.

In 1851 and 1861 census Charles' cousin Frederick was Innkeeper of the Fox and Hounds PH [next door to his brother George in Shirburn Street].

By 1861 he had married Annie ( born Wallingford circa 1827 ) and moved to Nettlebed Ref RG9/883/93

In 1871 the P.H. was run by Charles Lovelock aged 40 and Annie (aged 44), Charles' presumed first wife, both born in Wallingford. [Resident with them in 1871 census were their children Mary, aged 12, born Watlington and Susanna, aged 10, born Nettlebed and a General Servant, Elizabeth Nutt, aged 47.] Charles Lovelock appears as resident of the Fox and Hounds PH in 1876 Harrods Directory of Beds, Bucks, Berks & Oxon and 1877 Post Office Directory for Watlington. [No Lovelock entries 1887 Post Office Directory.) The pub is still there. The Licencee in 1883 was Samuel Plowman according to Kelly's Commercial Directory for Bucks, Berks and Oxon.

In 1863 Directory of Oxon and Berks and 1869 Post Office Directory, Charles is listed as a Draper in Market Place.

In 1864 Charles appears in the Post Office Directory in Market Place Watlington - Draper. Further entries appear in Casey's Directory of 1868 and the PO Directory of 1869.

Charles's Cousin Frederick ( Licencee of The Fox and Hounds Shirburn Street Watlington ) died on the 18th October 1869 and Charles was named in his Will as joint Executor with George Francis Filber Farmer in Shirburn. Charles was left a legacy of £200 and all the residue of his estate including goodwill and stock in trade of his business.

Charles is listed in the 1873 Mercer & Crockers 1877 PO and 1878 PO. In the Harrods Directory of 1876 he is also listed as running the Drapers business in Market Place as well. I have a photograph of this shop taken circa 1920 it was then run by Mr Searley.

Annie was buried in Watlington on the 2nd November 1877 and Charles remarried two years later at Oxford St Michael on the 7th March 1881 to Emma Boulter (Born Abingdon Oxon). Witness at the wedding was Mary Ann Hannah Lovelock. A month later they were living at the Leopold Arms in Oxford. Charles died in 1883 and was buried at East Ilsley Berkshire on 18/01/1883 age 51.
