Note

Name from 1881 census

Sarah's birth place:Email discussion between Graham Lovelock and Robin Lovelock, in particular, message from Graham 19 Jan 2005:"The 1881 Woking entry for Sarah's birthplace has been transcribed as 'Frogham' which, as I said, I had found no evidence for the existence of. The 1901 transcription, however, reads 'Fordingbridge', which I know moderately well. Bearing in mind that the 1901 transcription may well have been done off-shore by someone who has no knowledge of small Hampshire towns, I took the view that the 1901 entry is unlikely to be a total fabrication. BUT ..... quite by chance I have today laid me grubby little hands on a 1957 Road Atlas that I acquired some 15 years ago, and which I had almost forgotten, which was buried under a mountain of paper in me spare, spare, spare bedroom. And lo and behold Frogham does exist, and is no more than a dozen miles from where you are sitting, Robin, and about 2 miles SW by W of Fordingbridge. So, in their way, both Census entries are probably correctly transcribed, so one should probably incline to Frogham being Sarah's actual place of birth, being the smaller of the two locations."
