| Shared note | Graham Lovelock 20-Nov-06: Charles was a lodger in Battersea with his sister Charlotte and her husband Phillip Winder and family. Battersea is in the Wandsworth RD. In 4Q 1895 a Charles L married in Wandsworth - ref 1d 1038. The bride was either Alice Jane Harris or Bertha I Merryweather, but I haven't been able to identify which. However, an Alice Lovelock was born and died in 2Q 1896 in Wandsworth, refs 1d 575 and 1d 312 respectively, which might be the daughter of Charles and Alice. | Note | Graham Lovelock 9-Jul-2016: Charles' brother Daniel had a nephew Hubert George Lovelock staying with him and his wife in 1901. All of Charles' and Daniel's sisters were married before 1897, so they could not be the mother. Brother Thomas had a son of his own in 1897 so can be ruled out. Brother Elijah was probably living in Wiltshire in 1897, and in any case does not seem to have married until 1906. That leaves only brother Charles as the father of Hubert George. As Charles was in Battersea in 1891 and still single, he may well be the man who married Alice Jane Harris in Wandsworth RD in Oct-Dec 1895 (ref 1d 1038). Neither Charles nor Alice Jane seems to be identifiable in any on-line source after the marriage entry. |
