Note | 24 October 2009 Jim Martin acquired a certificate for the marriage on 8 April 1849 of Charles Lovelock and Sarah Stops which indicated that the groom's father was named Thomas, not John as previously shown in this tree. Thus the groom could not have been Charles bap Compton 17 Aug 1820, son of John Lovelock and Mary (nee Pain), as previously thought. See note to Charles Lovelock bap Winchester St John Cheesehill 24 May 1818 (I61) for additional information about changes made to this database in consequence. |
Note | 1 February 2023: For several years there have been a number of Public Member Trees at Ancestry.co.uk that include a Charles Lovelock born on 9 June 1820. None of the trees identify the source of the information, although most of the trees state that he was born in Chievely, Berkshire. Our transcriptions from the Chievely Register do not include such an entry, but there was a Charles apparently born there in 1821 or 1822. He was buried at Shaw cum Donnington on 11 August 1824 at the age of 2. Charles baptised at Compton on 17 August 1820 disappears from English records after the 1841 Census, so may very well be the man otherwise described in the Public Member Trees. |
