James Courtis Loveluck wote a Journal of "My Voyage in the Ingoldsby SS". The voyage commenced Saturday March 7th 1885, and took him to Portugal (which apparently he had already visited 2 or 3 years earlier) southern Spain, the north African coast, the Greek Islands, to Constantinople, and then on to the Black Sea ports of Ochakov and Nikolayev. The captain of the ship was his uncle Thomas Owen Davies. [Add details of SS Ingoldsby etc.]

He moved from Glamorgan to East Lancashire sometime before the birth of James Henry Noel L, born Barton-Upon-Irwell 25 Dec 1899, and probably before 1896 (Was Gretta born in Glamorgan?)

Note added 27-Feb-06 It seems like James Courtis Loveluck went to the USA in 1891 (which would add substance to the above from John Dixon's mother). He is listed in the New York passenger lists on Ancestry.com. One needs to have a subscription covering US records to obtain the complete record, but even without this I obtained the following information: Name: James C Loveluck Date: 1891 Port of departure: Liverpool England and Queenstown, Ireland (last two pieces of info from the "Learn More" link - there was only one Loveluck immigration to New York, and it was in 1891 from Liverpool)

He travelled in a 2nd Class cabin and did not travel with anyone of the same name and his country of origin is shown as England
