Sacred to the Memory of David Emanuel Marendaz of Tydraw in this Parish Who died August 21st. 1867 aged 6- ? [but 8 is near]. And they buried him in the City of David among the Kings ------- because he had done good in Israel------ Towards God and Towards his house.

Also Catherine wife of the above named who died March 4th. 1893. aged 87. Thou Drewest near in the day that I called apon thee Thou saidest fear not. R. Roderick

From the article "The Marendaz and Thomas Families of Glamorgan" by A. Leslie Evans:

"His (D.E. Marendaz) widow, Catherine (nee Powell?), continued to farm Tydraw and was buried at Holy Cross on March 4, 1893, her age being 86."

Ron Davies has an additional daughter, Catherine, of David Emmanuel and Catherine Marendaz, based on the fact that she is referred to in the Will of Thomas Jones of Ballas [WILLS-2004-J-01]: "my granddaughter Catherine, the Daughter of my said Daughter Catherine Marendaz.." See: https://clan-davies.kiwitrees.net/family.php?famid=F454 No other evidence of this daughter has been found in GRO or census records.
