Died in France, outside Arles. Charles went to Duntroon College, the Austn Army training college - the star of the family. He and Fred both served at Gallipoli; served in France were both wounded and sent to England; both returned to France. Charles' journal has been published; he is mentioned in despatches and several Australian histories of WW1
