1833, no.43
John Lovelock of this parish, bachelor, and Ann Workman of this parish, spinster, married by Banns
14 0ctober 1833. Witnesses Edmund Pincett and Elizabeth Rickards.
No other marriage of John Lovelock found until his second (to Anne Little)
Quality of data: primary evidence John Lovelock and his wife Ann lived at 14, Hodges Cottages, Shipton Moyne. Both were agricultural workers, possibly for an estate. In 1851, their daughter Mary Ann was at home looking after the rest of the family. Thomas, at the age of 13 was also working as an agricultural labourer. The family continued to grow, and by 1871, Charles was working as a coachman.
It looks as though John died in 1874, and the family had to give up their home in Shipton Moyne. Perhaps it was a tied cottage.
