George and Ann emigrated to South Australia with their six surviving children (Adam, Levi, Henry, Elijah, George and Thomas) on the barque "Prince Regent" arriving 25 September 1839, although their tombstone says they arrived in the Colony on 2 September. One child, George, born in England in 1834 had previously died there in 1835. Another son, Thomas, died on the voyage out.
Their ship left London on 7 June 1839. There is no record that George was accompanied by his wife. (Reference: Correspondence to G. Eastment dated 21 July 1976 from Archives, State Library of South Australia.)
On their arrival, the family lived for two years at Fulham, South Australia and in 1841 they took up land at Aldinga (Willunga area) in South Australia. They appear in the 1844 Almanac. George purchased Section 374 and later Section 317 of 80 acres in the District of Willunga in April 1847. He was first buried in the corner paddock of his Aldinga farm and was removed to the Aldinga cemetery 20 years later.
