Publication: Correspondence - letters from Juan and email from wife Susanne, dating from 1998 to Aug 1999
Citation details: Letter 16 Mar 1998 Text: She died not far from Valparaiso, in Quillota, a kind of semi-colonial town, in the house that was the residence of Lily & Rosa Higgins. [From Google translation of: http://icarito.aconcagua1.copesa.cl/especiales/ohiggins/rosa.htm Born in Chillán the 30 of August of 1781, [she] was the unique daughter of the marriage conformed by Felix Rodriguez and Isabel Riquelme. [She] died in Lima in 1850. In the years of the fight by Independence, [she] adopted the last name of [her] average Bernardine brother, with whom lived the first years on his childhood. The arrival of Bernardine O'Higgins from England in 1802, reunited to the small family by a brief time, because this it had to start off for Lima to manage the possession of the inheritance of his father. To its return, they were transferred to the property of the Quarries, located in the neighborhoods of the Angels. Once the revolution of Independence began, the family tried to stay as united as the circumstances allowed it. Isabel and Rosa followed the army from 1813 by all south of the country. ] See also: http://www.latinamericanstudies.org/chile/ohiggins.htm Summary: Rosa had a step brother, Bernardo O'Higgins, illegitimate son of Ambrose O'Higgins and Isabel Riqelme (Rosa's mother from the later marriage mentioned above), who was from an aristocratic Chilean family. Bernardo led an insurrection against the Spanish, which was a precursor to the Chilean revolution. Quality of data: primary evidence

Possibly died in Quillota
Possibly died in Quillota
From Juan J Loveluck, confirmed by Andres Lovleuck:
It is believed that Agnes died around 1948 in Quillota, in the Valparaiso region, and that she spent the last years of her life in a house where Rosa O'Higgins had lived. The latter was a half-sister of Bernardo O'Higgins a Chilean revolutionary, son of an Irish father and a Chilean aristocrat. |
