James: 1840 Nov 14 John Dickman Father: William & Ann Lovelock Eyels Father: James. Witnesses Moris Lovelock and Louisa Stone Could the bride be a daughter of James Lovelock & Hannah Eyles mar. Wilcot 6 Nov 1819? Perhaps the surnames Lovelock Eyles means that she was born out of wedlock? Moris (Maurice) was presumably James' son bap Apr 1820 who married Lousia Stone.

Robert: An intriguing thought James. She could have been born abt 1819 and so married aged abt 21. I'd be prepared to go with that one - even though we don't have the baptism. We only checked a modern transcript for baptisms for the period 1568-1840 in Pewsey so would have missed the surname EYLES in an index. Worth re-checking the PR for the baptism. Any takers?

Graham: Sounds plausible to me, too, although probably born in 1818 or even 1817- Hannah was already pregnant with Maurice when she married. Also, the Burial Register has Maurice aged 71 when he was buried on 2 Apr 1890, suggesting he might also have been illegitimate. We don't have Maurice's precise baptism date.
