Note from Graham Lovelock, email message 17 Feb 02: I am pretty sure that Peter's aunt Pru would be Prudence. I think you will agree that the names Prucy Rosina are a unique combination, and the Ellis Island Web Site data confirms, or did I should say, not having consulted it lately, that a Prucy Rosina arrived in the United States of America on 11 Nov 1908. She was single, and her residence was declared as Tunbridge Wells. She arrived on board the "Oceanic".

Note from Peter B Lovelock, email message 27 Feb 02: Prucy Louisa L; I previously didn't know of the Ellis Island website but I looked it up and saw the ship's manifest, (the same Oceanic, Nov 1908); by the way she has been recorded as Puily Rosina L, the hand written manifest could easily be taken for Puily. Her last place of residence is shown as Tunbridge Wells and her birthplace as Great Bedwyn; her mother as next of kin, (her father John would have died some 4 years earlier), is shown as Mrs Lovelock, The Wharf, Great Bedwyn, (no name initial), so even further confirmation that it was her. I believe she must have returned to England as there is a witness P R Parrott to my Mum and Dad's wedding in 1924, this would assume she is the Aunt Pru that I knew who married a Mr Parrott?

I have seen references to both a Prucy Rosina and Prudence and I'm wondering whether somewhere along the line, Prucy has been formalised to Prudence in the same way that Flossie Louisa had been formalised to Florence?
