| Name | Registered as Daniel Lovelock at birth. His father possibly and unofficially added "William" in honour of his brother's (Fred. B's) son, Dan. Wm., who died 2 days later? |
| Note | Daniel enlisted on 31/5/1917 No 56318 4th AIR (NZEF) and served in France. He was invalided home and discharged. He never married. Daniel survived the war, was invalided home due to sickness, and became a recluse, disappearing up north never to be heard of again - at least not until army records showed he had died in 1961. These records also showed Daniel had an illegitimate male child, "William Ferguson (Lovelock)" to exactly quote army records, b 14 August 1914 - before Daniel went to war. The mother was Eva Hill. As far as we know William (Billy Hill) was raised by his mother and probably never knew his father? Possibly still alive? |
