Death

Added RL 12/5/05 from Lovelock FH website GRO data. 12/7/05 RL Date of death also given as 30 Jan 1910 in 'Some Lovelock Wills 1856-1962' on Lovelock website - supplied by Graham 11/04. Added here. This 'originally' given as burial date in database as taken from Lovelock website.

Burial

12/7/05 RL Date cited from MI should presumably be that of death (as per headstone) rather than of burial, as had been entered here. (Entry [source. MI] in 'Lovelocks in Wilts by Parish' gives same date twice ??) See note to death entry source.

Note

On 6 May 1893 the 'Marlborough Times' reported of Everley Petty Sessions:

'George Lovelock, John Lovelock and James Lovelock were summoned by the Guardians of the Pewsey Union to shew cause why they did not contribute towards the maintenance of their mother, Harriett Lovelock, a pauper residing at Wootton Rivers, and chargeable to the common fund of the Pewsey Union. Arthur Baker, relieving officer of the Pewsey Union, stated that on 11th April, he had an application from Harriett Lovelock, aged 74 years, for out-door relief, on the ground of destitution. He brought it before the Board on the 17th April and they granted relief of 3s. per week. By direction of the Board he laid information against the three defendants, who are sons. George Lovelock is a village blacksmith and carrier, James Lovelock is a bricklayer, and John Lovelock is a bricklayer on the Great Western Railway. In witness's opinion they were of sufficient ability to contribute towards their mother's maintenance. George Lovelock, in defence, said: I have a wife and seven children, three at work, and the eldest an invalid, one looks after two cows. John Lovelock said: She has never been to ask us to contribute. - The Bench made an order for each to contribute 1s. per week.'
