Note

On 12 July 1958 the 'Reading Mercury' reported:

The jury at an inquest at May Place Hall on Tuesday returned a verdict that 35-years-old Mrs Katherine Spencer, of Hazeldene Cottages, Manor Farm, North Oakley, had been murdered by Leonard William Lovelock, aged 35, of White Lane Hannington. Mrs Spencer and Lovelock had both been found dead from gunshot wounds on June 20th on the grass verge near Freemantle Farm, Hannington. The coroner, Mr D Stuart Jones, dismissed the jury and then returned a verdict that Lovelock had taken his own life.
