Note: The Charles who generated the Sculcoates, Yorkshire family is identified as the son of Daniel LOVELOCK and Ann CHOULES, baptised at East Grafton on 2 Apr 1851 by the 1881 Census entry which clearly states Crofton, Wilts as his place of birth, although he gave his age as 28 (ie born 1852 or 1853). The only Lovelock family recorded in Crofton in 1841 and 1851 was Daniel and Ann’s, and there were no Lovelock families there in 1861. Daniel and Ann’s son Charles was 1 month old at the time of the 1851 Census. The age quoted in the death entry for the Charles in Sculcoates (61 in 1915 - born 1854) does not agree with the Census entries, but there is presently no evidence for another Charles Lovelock of mature years in the Sculcoates RD at that time.

Note

Daniel may be one of the subjects of an item in the Salisbury and Winchester Journal of 23 January 1837 which noted that Daniel Lovelock, David Lovelock and William Hailstone were committed to Marlborough Bridewell for two months each, and to find sureties, for a trespass at Burbage.
