Notice it has been transcribed with two Marys to confuse things but Bob also sent me a pdf file for the actual page and looking at that the second name is more like Lissy (or Cissy as it should be)

Census

{As John noted, the transcription given by "The Genealogist" has both May and Lissy as 'Mary', although the writing is quite clear. See also Colin's comments. Other minor omissions from the transcript vis a vis the image appear to be: (i) The birthplace entered for HoH Thomas has a second word after 'Hartley'; it is unclear but seems to me to begin with 'R'. There are several Hartley XXXs in Hampshire of course, and we have this man as born in Hartley Wintney; Genuki's information on that parish includes "...Hartley Rao is in this parish..." (1868 National Gazetteer), so I think that is probably what was intended. (ii) 'William' is clearly recorded as 'William T', and his occupation as 'Gardener's boy' rather than 'Gardener'. (iii) Like her older siblings, Lissy (transcribed by "The Genealogist" as 'Mary' and aged 1) is recorded as 'Scholar' (via "do"), although possibly the "?" in the transcription is intended to query this, given her age.

Note

There was another daughter Annie Olive,b. 1882 who drowned in the River Kennet at the age of 8.

James Loveluck:I wasn't able to find a FreeBMD record for her death anywhere close to 1890/91 (when she would have been 8 years old). Also, she was apparently still living at the time of the 1891 census, since she is included in the record provided by John Lewis. I did find a FreeBMD death record which fits, but it is much later, in 1907:Deaths Jun 1907 LOVELOCK Annie Olive 24 Reading 2c 200 and there is a 1901 census record which could be her, as follows:S Lawrence Berkshire BRK Annie Lovelock Female 20 1881 General Serv Domestic Berks Shinfield
