Jacob the son of Thomas and Jane seems to be the only candidate for Mary's husband. The Will of Jacob's brother Thomas refers to 'Jane the daughter of my brother Jacob', indicating that Jacob probably did marry.

Note: As Jacob was recorded as a Widower in the Banns of his intended marriage to Dinah Coombs it is assumed that Mary had died. She may be the subject of a burial at South Wraxall on 29 May 1820, aged 32. That Mary was 'of Bradford Leigh', which is more or less the same distance (about 2 miles) from South Wraxall as Atworth, where Mary and Jacob married, is.

10 October 1841 (Age 55 years)
Note: The marriage entry records Jane's father's name as Jacob. However, Jane received very favourable consideration in the Will of her Uncle Thomas, and it may be conjectured in consequence that the widowed Jacob had died in 1826 before his marriage to Dinah Coombs could take place (there being no surviving evidence that it did) and that Jane then lived with her Uncle and his wife.

Death

The Banns of Marriage for Jacob and a Dinah Coombs were published in Bradford on Avon on 16, 23 and 30 April 1826, but there is no surviving evidence that the marriage actually took place. Jacob was recorded as a widower, and both parties were resident in the Tything of Leigh and Woolley.

Moreover, a Dinah Coombs was buried at Holy Trinity, Bradford on Avon on 7 May 1827 at the age of 45 (data on Findmypast website) which would have made her only 3 or 4 years older than Jacob.
