Cecil was a concert pianist/organist. He was an organist at Grafton Cathedral and New Zealand. The children stayed with Clara. |
| Shared note | Clara was born at Dunnolly, Victoria and married Cecil Compton in 1891. Cecil was a concert pianist and a protege of his uncle Sir Edward Holroyd, Chief Justice of Court of Victoria. Both sets of parents insisted that, if the marriage went ahead, the newly married couple would have to leave Victoria and indeed the moved to Moss Vale, NSW after their marriage at the Holy Trinity Church in Melbourne. About 1891-92 Cecil was an organist at Grafton Cathedral and also worked for a time in New Zealand. Cecil died in Sydney in 1832. In her latter years Clara used to stay for 6 month period with her various daughters. She was visiting Doris and her husband in New Zealand when she died and was cremated there in 1960.
