| Note | From Ancestry.com (free trial): Submitter: Brenda Subject: Christiana Lovelock, born 1806, Shrewton, WiltshireMessage: My 3x great grandmother, Christiana Loveluck/Lovelock was born in Shrewton, Wiltshire in 1806. She was married to John Wicks of Bowood in 1851 and their two children Francis John Loveluck Wicks and Mary Ann Christiana Wicks at Belcom Place, Bradford-on-Avon were with her. In 1881 my 2xgreat grandmother Emily Amer was staying with her at Whiteheads, B-O-A. Emily is erraneously shown as Emily Wicks. Emily was shown as born in Merthyr Tydfil, Glamorgan, which is the giveaway. Emily married my 2xgreat grandfather John Jones at Ebbw Vale that same year, 1881. I have always wondered why William Amer, Emily's father was staying with the Wicks family in Bromham, Wilts in 1851. I believe that Christiana Lovelock is William's mother and must have married John Wicks after Williams father (shown as William Amer on Emily and William's marriage certificate.) had died. Christiana had a father John and her mother was Mary Foye. To date I haven't come across any Lovelocks, as yet, that were associated with the Amers who came to Wales. Most of the Glamorgan ones seemed to have been here much earlier. best wishes Brenda, Gwent |
