Note | Bert Summers health was badly damaged by his experiences in world war one.Apart from lung damage from gas, he survived a very cold winter towards the end of the war with inadequate clothing, no heating and little food (he talked of eating rats, if they could capture them) He worked as a file clerk for the Ministry of Pensions, at their Chippenham office. He was a devout Baptist. |
