Birth | Jack Ballard's notes give birth date as 1878, but this doesn't fit in with other information provided. |
Death | Died at 42 Berrymead Gardens, Acton |
Note | She travelled with her mother and father until 1908 at which time her mother returned to England. During the period 1889 to 1908, Alice lived in the following places/countries. 1889--1893 Southern Ireland--Athlone and Kilkenny 1893-1895 Aldershot 1895-1908 East Indies; Some of the places she might have lived at include Hyderabad, Aden, Karachi, Quetta, Peshawar, Campbellpore, Rawai Guarial ( Definitely), Dagshall, Jhansi ( Last Posting whilst with father). She lived with William Fulbrook. They never married therefore we assume he left Nellie Cheshire and that Nellie would not give him a divorce. When William died he was living at 47 Norfolk Road, Seven Kings , Ilford. After William's death Alice had to move out of the house quickly in the night to stop William's wife inheriting the furniture etc. She later had to do a number of moonlight flits. At first she opened a boarding house and took in 12 Scottish work men. When the depression came, they lost their jobs but Alice allowed them to stay for free. Eventually her money began to run out so she bought a smaller boarding house and kept 6 of her original tenants. Rumour has it that one of the tenants was her boy friend. The 6 however could not get work and eventually Alice ran out of money and had to sell up. It is thought that she took up school teaching for a while. At some time she and her family went back to live with John Lovelock for a while. Her children did not appreciate John Lovelock's discipline. |
