LOVELOCK Granson 7 m M Devizes, Wiltshire, England The Mary A Lovelock (with apparently 2 illegitimate children) is almost certainly the dau of James L, but who is Elizabeth Woodroffe, and why is Mary A recorded as Daur? One interesting point is that we have a second baptism record for Mary Ann at Wootton Bassett (supplied by Lynn Squire) as follows:1858 Jun 20 Mary Ann d. James(?) & Eliza Lovelock, Wootton Bassett, Groom 22 Jun 2018 - GL adds: The baptism of a daughter of James and Eliza does not seem to be included in any of the on-line sources. With respect to Elizabeth Woodroffe, she was born Elizabeth Newman and married Samuel Woodroffe in Devizes RD in Jul-Sep 1849. They had two sons - Frank (1854) - who appears in the 1861 and 1871 Census Returns as William - and George (1856). Samuel died in late 1856. Speculation, but no more, suggests that one of the sons was the father of at least Mary Ann's son William.
Note	Details from the Wiltshire FHS transcription on the FindMyPast web site of a register or list of the several patients under the care of Mr Charles Finch at his house at Fisherton Anger in the County of Wilts – Licensed for the reception of insane persons: Annie, a single laundress from 6 St James Place, Devizes was admitted on 6 May 1911 and discharged on 24 Oct 1937 having died.
