| Shared note | In the 1939 UK Register Irene M. Gregory's entry has her surname crossed out and Riedmann written over it. Irene married Eric C Riedmann in the Reading RD (ref 2c 1434) in Apr-Jun 1940. Eric was born in Jul-Sep 1914 in the Lambeth RD (ref 1d 687). Irene's entry in the Register also has Riedmann crossed out and Hounslow written in its place. So I had intially looked for her marriage to a Mr Hounslow, but without any luck. However, when I went to Eric's birth entry lo and behold his mother's maiden name was Hounslow. And sure enough Eric Carl Hounslow who died in Oct 1989 in the Oxford RD (ref 20 2691) was born on 15 Jun 1914. My assumption is that Riedmann being a German name, it was prudent to change it at some time during the war, and so Eric's mother's maiden name was adopted by the couple. And thus we are led to the death of Irene Mary Hounslow in Jun 1993 in the Oxford RD (ref C38 D 193), with her date of birth recorded in the entry as 21 Jan 1916.
